JoanaSantamans (Barcelona, 1977)

Graphic designer, illustrator and artist. 
Born in Barcelona, Joana Santamans currently lives and works in Barcelona. Graduated in graphic design and post-graduated in illustration at Eina, School of Art and Design of Barcelona in 2001, Joana works now as a professional designer and artist. 
She has previously worked in many studios in Barcelona and she is currently working as a freelance, focusing on a wide range of projects in relation to art, design and illustration.

She has made several solo and collective exhibitions in Barcelona, her latest exhibition Playground in May 2010 at Visions Gallery in Barcelona.

The author suggests recovering the child’s gaze, always amazed. ‘I understand the visual arts, creating, as a liberation and a game’. 
Nature, as a link to the whole, is always present in her works as well in the series Nature Calls, where it is expressed at the edge of drowning; it is a cry for help as well as a work to abstract organic forms. A collage of perplexity, the
Imaginarius series is a collage designed from spontaneous sketches of everyday life. 
In the Playground collection, which gives its name to her last exhibition, the artist offers a view from the innocence. She does not talk about the look of the audience, she does not want to educate them ..., she simply offers hers with the concern that all points of view are interesting.
